More Wins on the Agenda for McPherson                                                     12-10-05

In what has been an ideal start to season 2005/06 for Metalcorp Steel Racing team driver Scott McPherson the aim is to continue that form when the Late Model division headlines the bill this Saturday night (October 15) at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway (TPCR).

A fortnight ago, 43-year-old McPherson made his first appearance in the fully rebuilt # 7 Chev 410ci powered Pontiac GP and despite the Late Model section receiving only one race on the night due to a major crash in a support division, McPherson captured victory in the 12-lap feature race.

“I never imagine my night would turn out like it did, with the Late Models only having one race, but there wasn't much we could do,” reflected the Fyshwick based hard charger. “Hopefully this weekend we can get some more races and put on a show for the crowd.”

Although his victory on the opening night turned out to be fairly comfortable one, McPherson is adamant that it wasn't as easy as it looked.

“I certainly had to work hard for my win,” he stated. “I was working the highline like there was no tomorrow and in the end it paid off. There were numerous occasions where I would try to sling shot around the outside of my rivals, and surely enough that worked, although it didn't work every time.”

With one win under his belt, McPherson is looking forward to what lies ahead as the season and competition really starts to hot up.

“There are no two ways about it, the competition will be fierce this season, and almost everyone in the field has a realistic chance of winning on any given night,” said McPherson. “I'm not going to get too far ahead of myself with my first up win, as I've been around this sport long enough to know that you can go from hero to zero within the blink of an eye. Hopefully with any luck that won't occur and I can continue my strong start to the season.”

The battle plan for the Metalcorp Steel Racing team this weekend at the TPCR clay way is to post back to back wins.

“I go into every race, thinking that I am going to win, there's no secret about that,” admitted McPherson. “You cannot go to a track beaten before you get there, you just have to remain confident, make the most of your opportunity's and drive as hard as you can,”
