Australian Capital Territory (ACT) based racer Scott McPherson will this Saturday night (April 8) at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway (TPCR) make a return to the track and has his sights firmly set on maintaining his lead in the East Coast Late Model Series.
After suffering engine failure at the Australian Late Model Nationals in Western Australia earlier this year, McPherson has been forced onto the sidelines, but a recent deal setup between himself and fellow racer, Bruce White, to lease one of his engines has enabled McPherson to return to the track.
I cannot wait to get back out there (onto the track) and my aim for the remainder of the season is to be consistent and defend my East Coast Late Model Series lead, stated McPherson.
It's going to be all about being there at the finish, but on the same token I am going to be trying my best to challenge for race wins too.
Although the Bruce White owned engine will be some 150 horsepower down compared to his rivals due to it being out of an old Super Sedan, McPherson remains confident that he can be at the pointy end of the field.
On numerous occasions this season despite a considerable horsepower difference, if the track dries out, the lower horsepower cars can be very competitive, admitted McPherson.
If the conditions are to the cars liking, I shouldn't be discounted.
I will be in my normal car, which I know very well, so hopefully there shouldn't be a lot of difference, with the exception of the horsepower factor of course.
This Saturday night keep an eye on the # 7 Better Trailers Racing Team Pontiac GP as its driver, McPherson, aims to build on his East Coast Late Model Series lead.
