A strong result in round five of the East Coast Late Model series at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway (TPCR) last Saturday night (November 5) for Scott McPherson failed to eventuate after the Metalcorp Steel Racing team misjudged the setup for the feature race, which resulted in a disappointing fourth place finish.
Although enduring a disappointing end to a promising night, McPherson still holds down the top spot in the East Coast Late Model series point score.
McPherson was quite frank in terms of explaining what occurred out there during the 12-lap feature race.
“We missed the setup, it's as simple as that,” he said. “The track caught us out and it did exactly the opposite to what we thought it was doing to do. As disappointing as it was, we will be better prepared for the next time we are back here.”
Earlier in the night McPherson was able to finish his two qualifying heat races with a win and a second, which put him as the highest point scorer heading into the feature race.
“Everything was going along nicely leading up the feature raced and we were confident that we would continue that form,” remarked McPherson. “It's all good to be fast during the heats, but when you misjudge the setup for the feature race, your achievements earlier in the night stand for little.”
McPherson is confident of bouncing back to form next Saturday night (November 12) during round six of the east Coast Late Model series at Brisbane International Speedway (BIS). The last appearance for the series at the venue was back in round three, which saw McPherson dominate proceedings.
“I can take a lot of confidence out of my last run there (BIS) and hopefully with everything going to plan we can put in another strong run,” said an upbeat McPherson. “I really enjoyed it last we were there (BIS) and with a few more cars attending this coming weekend should be no different.”
