Canberra Late Model racer Scott McPherson is set to embark on a busy Christmas / New Year period that will see him compete in three race meetings in three different states in the space of just a single week.
The current point's leader of the East Coast Late Model series is looking forward to the hectic schedule that lies ahead that will commence on Boxing Day (December 26) at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway (TPCR). Followed by venturing over to Adelaide's Speedway City (South Australia) for the Fireball Derby on New Years day (January 1) and then two days later compete at Rolling Thunder Raceway in Bacchus Marsh (Victoria) on January 3.
“It's certainly going to be a busy time, but that's all just part of the fun and something that our entire team is looking forward to,” said McPherson. “Travelling to three different states in just a week is going to quite an experience.”
McPherson's aim for these three events is to register podium finishes and keep to the pointy end of the field amongst a strong field of competitors from the East and West Coast.
“With such a healthy nomination list for these three events I'm going to have my work cut out for me,” admitted McPherson. “I am aiming for consistent results in my heats in order to start as high up in the feature race field as possible then go all out, well, that's the plan anyway.”
One event that McPherson is keen to make amends in is the Fireball Derby at Speedway City after finishing in a disappointing sixth place during last season's event.
“I was looking good for a podium result in last season's event only to come together will a fellow rival which saw me finish down the order,” recalled McPherson. “So, I aim to bury those somber memories and finish this season's event on the podium.”
Like many of his rivals McPherson is completely foreign to the Rolling Thunder Raceway, but he is looking forward to the challenge.
“I don't know much about Rolling Thunder Raceway, but I know it's a big track and it'll be interesting to see how the Late Models go around there,” said McPherson. “The main thing will be that we put on an impressive show for the fans and make sure that we can get invited back.”
